Matt Walsh, Senior Research Fellow at the Centre for Social Data Analytics (CSDA), will share new research on Adverse Childhood Experiences (ACEs) at a Child Wellbeing Research Seminar hosted by the Ministry of Social Development in Wellington on 11 September.

The CSDA study – “Protective factors of children and families at highest risk of adverse childhood experiences:  An analysis of children and families in the GUiNZ data who “beat the odds”’ - uses data from the Growing Up in New Zealand (GUiNZ) longitudinal study and is funded by the Child and Families Research Fund.

  • Does social connectedness buffer the impact of family transitions among vulnerable youth? – Prof Paul Jose, School of Psychology, Victoria University of Wellington

The seminar will be of interest to anyone developing, delivering or funding policies and programmes aimed at child wellbeing.

The GUiNZ study is based at the University of Auckland’s Centre for Longitudinal Research – He Ara ki Mua. Crown funding for the study is managed by MSD. The Children and Families Research Fund is also managed by MSD
