Developing the Allegheny Family Screening Tool
April 27, 2017
A report on the methodology of the Allegheny Family Screening Tool is now available on Allegheny County’s website. This report details the considerations and decisions made during the development and implementation of the tool, providing a snapshot of the project at its current status.
The publication also includes an ethical analysis by Tim Dare and Eileen Gambrill, with a response from the Allegheny County Department of Human Services.
CSDA Co-director, Professor Rhema Vaithianathan led the development and implementation of a predictive risk model, which assists staff at a child maltreatment hotline in Allegheny County. This tool is used to inform, train and improve the decisions made by staff during the call-screening process.
