CSDA part of INTERACT Centre of Technology Excellence
July 28, 2016
The Centre for Social Data Analytics (CSDA) is proud to be a part of the INTERACT Centre of Technology Excellence, which launched in July with a showcase of research at Auckland University of Technology (AUT).
INTERACT seeks to drive the use of big data and analytics in New Zealand, and provide opportunities for IT and data science graduates. Hosted by AUT, the centre is a collaboration of experts and researchers from several New Zealand universities, local organisations, and multinational partners.
“INTERACT will significantly increase New Zealand’s engagement in data-intensive R&D, an area where we have lagged internationally, but which offers the opportunity for advanced technology development and potential spin-off industry benefits” said Professor John Raine, Pro-Vice Chancellor of Research and Innovation at AUT.
The opportunities for networking and collaboration provided by INTERACT will support the aim of CSDA to provide innovative solutions to social problems by applying strong data science to linked administrative data.
The areas of research being undertaken by other members of INTERACT include motion capture and virtual reality technologies, improving the safety of driverless cars, and using drones to create three-dimensional maps.
INTERACT is currently seeking to boost institutional support for its R&D activities through investment by Government.
